Have you ever thrown a big party like a 40th birthday or a baby shower? If you have, you know that these events are always more difficult to plan than they appear to guests. And for time strapped working people, getting all the details of one of these special events can be extremely challenging.

One of the most important factors in any event is advance planning. The more work you can do in the weeks ahead of the baptism or graduation, the less you’ll have to do on the big day.

Advance planning start, not surprisingly, with invitations. Most etiquette experts advise sending out wedding and birthday invitations at least six to eight weeks ahead of the actual event. This allows your guest, who are probably time-strapped themselves, plenty of time to adjust their schedules.

Party hosts should also take care to respect their guests and their beliefs. If you’re hosting a baptism party for a friend, you might want to learn a little about his or her belief system before the party.
