One of the most important factors in any event is advance planning. The more work you can do in the weeks ahead of the baptism or graduation, the less you’ll have to do on the big day.
Advance planning start, not surprisingly, with invitations. Most etiquette experts advise sending out wedding and birthday invitations at least six to eight weeks ahead of the actual event. This allows your guest, who are probably time-strapped themselves, plenty of time to adjust their schedules.
Party hosts should also take care to respect their guests and their beliefs. If you’re hosting a baptism party for a friend, you might want to learn a little about his or her belief system before the party. Humorous baptism invitations may seem like a good idea to you, but your friend might not appreciate it.
