Your immediate boss is very open to your suggestions and gives you a free hand with your projects. When his own bosses ask for your prsence at major company projects or ring you for your opinion, then you know that their input is valued.
When you, a “lowly supervisor,” is sent for training or official trips where only managers are required, that’s a sign taht the company is investing in your future.
When you are given tough assignments you believe are far above your capabilities AND are given the significant support and resources that you need to complete them, your boss is testing your mettle, giving you an oportunity to expand your wings and prove yourself and he wants you to succed.
Little but luxuroius perks that go beyond the standard performance bonus: a laptop that you can bring home, hotel stays and vacation trips, an allowance for a particular event that above the norm.
The powers that be cc you keep you in the loop in every e-mail, memo, and piece of communication, when they don’t have to.
Yours colleagues see you as a brigde to management and ask you to speak in their behalf or bring up a concern that they have the official commendation or promotion. Your friends recognize that you enjoy a more privileged access to the gods and can probably sway them.
